Hi there, the name's Kez. I'm a 20-something year old Welsh girl with far too much time on her hands and far too much love for programmes that were actually created for kids.

I’ve had a surprising number of questions about the invisible shoes that I made for my Jack Frost costume. So, by request, here’s a step-by-step tutorial!
Many popular costumes call for bare feet (Jack Frost, L, Toph, Medusa, Radical Edward and Inuyasha, to name a few) — but running around barefoot is unsafe, unsanitary and forbidden by many public health codes and venue policies. These “invisible” shoes will keep your feet safely off the floor without spoiling the barefooted look of your costume. Best of all, they’re easy to make and cost only a few dollars!

Some cheeky photos from the Midlands MCM Expo that was at the weekend!
As some of you know my girlfriend and I cosplayed as Fionna and Marshall Lee from Adventure Time; we received many lovely compliments and are definitely looking forward to wearing them again at London’s May MCM Expo with our bigger cosplay group!

Sophie is the best Marshall Lee like
goddamn
But ya, can’t wait for May!!! Many more photos to come, considering there are so many more people cosplaying AT with us =D
Discovered the top photo on Facebook today, which was taken when our group was having a wee rest. Ballgowns are freakin hard to sit down in, but gosh do they look purty all spread out like.
Still got a lot of work to do on her for May but Telford was a good trial run =] ~~~
(Check out my photogblog for more Adventure Time shots, including my awesome partner, who was my Marshall Lee)

(I’m Fionna btw. Ballgowns are well fun)
about 2 weeks of hard slog, with bonus uni workload, have finally got me to this point
I am so beyond ready for Midlands Expo
more work to do on it, like shaping the sleeves better, but it’s satisfactory for a trial run at midlands before London Expo in May~
First tests of my upcoming Marshall Lee cosplay!!
The wig arrived today and i was so excited i couldn’t wait any longer!
Alas, the wig still needs a little adjusting but it’s not too bad :)p.s. i feel the lip ring kinda fits so i’m leaving it in.

Sophie you are perfect omf
I can’t wait to do Adventure Time with you, you big cutie dork you~

This is just a horrid article. Completely ignoring the way it is written and composed - the wording and flow of the entire thing is like nails on a chalkboard for me - it paints cosplayers in such a harsh, horrid light, describing cosplays with terms like “deranged blackjack dealer” and “cross between circus freak and a marching-band member”. This author had preconceived views of cosplay, and it’s like she conducted this “interview” (i’m actually scoffing at that term) to back up those opinions by including every negative thing in her article, even stuff that isn’t needed at all.
I don’t know if this group was in fact snobbish or elitist in any sort of fashion, because the article is so unbiased it’s actually cringey. She forced herself into this new world with little or no research at all into the subject or art, and appears offended when she’s met with hostility to her rude and blunt observations or questions. It’s shit like this that actually makes me sad, yet determined to continue with my current practise in regards to my photojournalism.
*huffs*
I spent the entire day sewing. Completed the toile and then immediately took it apart again to create the actual dress. Not worked with this material before and i didn’t wanna fuck anything up so i was beyond askdjalsj about it.
BUT
The basic dress is now done. Now need to trim/hem the bottom, do the sleeves, the embellishment on the front, the sash around the waist and then I’m done =] I’m also gonna play around with the petticoat underneath - i’ve not quite got the right shape, and the netting is making the dress lumpy :/ (also, excuse the ugly shape of the bodice - my mannequin doesn’t have a bosom blergh)
…I defo need to get that embellishment on, this is looking too close to a wedding dress akljhdalkjshdkj
Spent the late afternoon/evening doing a toile for my next cosplay - Fionna’s ballgown from Adventure Time =] First time making a gown of any sort, and i didn’t use pattern pieces! (Will be using them for the sleeves tho…ugh i hate sleeves)
This is the back of it, btw. I haven’t got a shot of the front, cause it looks horrid and deformed on my mannequin (which doesn’t have a bosom to fill the bodice) and because the back has caused me the most headache-ness, due to me having to shape it on my own body, to get the darts right Dx
…also, yes, this is made out of an old duvet cover. But i felt the pattern at least a little fitting. And as I said, no pattern pieces used, which for the skirt was very…
…mathematical~!
Ripping up one costume to make another
that’s how cosplay works, right?
For those unaware, I’m a final year photojournalism student at Swansea Met, and my current project is on cosplay and conventions (hence the majority of my photographs being such recently). To go along with my images, I conducted a few interviews at MCM Expo Oct ‘12, but was unable to talk to enough people - Expo can be pretty rushed and hectic!
Therefore, it would be a great help if any cosplayers could answer this questionnaire under the readmore link, and send your answers via fanmail (not asks) or to the email address at the end of the question list. You don’t have to answer all of the questions - you can pick and choose or skip ones you don’t want to answer - but it would be great if you could! This will really help me in my project, and ultimately in my final exhibition =]
A cheeky reminding reblog! =]
It would be really great and oh so helpful for people to answer even just a couple of questions for me - especially if I have photographed you! It means I can put a quote or two with your picture, should I decide to mix image and text with my project exhibition =]
Also open to those not photographed, I’m needing a lot of opinions and insight! Would be great to get some more non-UK cosplayers answering (i only have one ;~;) too!
